Christmas for a Cause: Tres

Last night was the 3rd Annual "Christmas for a Cause" party! You can read about last year's party here. Apparently, I must've decided to not write about 2012. That year came and went ha, so that must be how I felt about 2012.

This year we chose to turn our attention to First Choice Pregnancy Center. First Choice is in Wake Forest. The center is for young girls who are considering having an abortion because they don't have help to raise a child/are scared/feeling pressured. FC offers free ultrasounds and counseling to girls who are in "limbo" about whether or not to abort the pregnancy. The hope is to show each girl their child.. hear a heartbeat.. offer hope through the gospel. For those who choose to keep their baby, FC offers parenting classes etc. through which the girls can earn baby items they will need once baby boy/girl arrives.

We made little spa bags for the young girls and ladies who come to the center. It's a very small way of making them feel special during a scary and confusing time. I loved this idea and was thankful for this opportunity - party with the girls, eat good food, do something for others. That's what it's all about. Loving others as He has loved us.

The Hostesses.

The food. Because what good party, doesn't have food. I made this Peppermint Brownie Trifle. Winner for sure. You can find the recipe on Mix and Match Mama's blog. aka A blog I frequently stalk.

All of the goodies were lined up on the couch. - Loofahs, lotions, bath soaps, nail things, polish, chocolates. You know, all the good stuff.
Open bag. Pick 5 gifts. Repeat.

That repeating resulted in 30 bags. Amazing!

My favorite picture of the evening. Some were out, but those who were in.. working it.

Group picture finally accomplished!

Me and Heidi: Working that camera like it was our job and not SECU. ha
