Happy Thanksgiving!

 Happy Thanksgiving from the blog!

I hope you are filled with dreams of sweet potato casserole, and green bean casserole, and breads, and pecan pie... and filled to brim, I might say!

I know I did a thankful list earlier in the month, but I wanted to take a minute and say a little more.  A list just won't cut it.

My God- He is good.  He is faithful.  He is compassionate.  He is patient.  He is peace.  He is the Almighty.  He's loving and forgiving.  He is slow to anger.  He is steadfast and the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He is all I need.  He is...  ____________________ . I could go on.. but that is what the blank is for.

My salvation - I chose to follow Jesus at an early age.  I was usually embarassed by such a simple testimony and was envious of those who had a turn around dramatic story.  Not so anymore.  I am thankful I decided to follow Jesus at an early age.  It is His grace.  I am thankful that His grace has kept me from a wayward life and kept me close to Him.  I am saved by Jesus' blood and nothing else.  Though I get wrapped up in the works, He rescued me first.  I've been singing this hymn lately: "Jesus Paid It All."  .. and it's making me more and more thankful.

My family and friends - Yep, I'm going to just throw them all in there together.  They are a beautiful and important part of my life.  I am thankful for a mama and daddy who love me so much! They are an example of God's love to me.. I can't get over it sometimes.  They bear with me.  I am thankful for friends who are praying friends. They know me the best when I'm at my weakest.  But that's when I'm at my strongest too because they are consistently praying for the Lord's strength in me.  It's overwhelming how many wonderful friends God has placed in my life. And let's not forget little Maggie at the house. She's too much - all 50 lbs of a beagle.

My health-  At this current moment, I am as healthy as I can be.  I am thankful that by God's grace He is pushing me past this eating situation that has bitterly plagued my life for years.  I was in tears just last week at the thought of how God had specifically answered that prayer.  It overwhelms me how good He is.. and yet, sometimes I don't see it.  But He is good.

My church- Church has been a hard one for me.  I never knew exactly where I fit.  Now I love my church.  I won't wear the T-shirts or put that in my status.  But simply this - I am enjoying growing and learning in this community of believers at this season of life.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Thank you for reading about my life.. the ins and outs.. the ups and downs. It's all here.

And since it's Thursday.. and Thanksgiving.. and a Throwback.. here you go:

  1. Happy Thanksgiving Erin! I love what you said about your salvation. That wraps up how I feel as well. I used to think I needed some amazing story of transformation which are the testimonies you always hear shared. However, I too am thankful that by knowing God from an early age...I did not fall into certain sins.

    1. Thanks Megan! It was such a hard thing to come to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!!
